Ne-Yo, John Legend and Others to Perform at 2009 Essence Music Festival
Ne-Yo and John Legend have been both appointed to sing at this year’s Essence Music Festival celebrating black music and culture. They will entertain music fans at the gig to be held for three days starting from July 3.
Set as a star-studded show, 2009 Essence Music Festival will include special events surrounding the Essence Festival’s 15th anniversary and the recent inauguration of president Barack Obama. Previous performers at the event included Mary J. Blige. LL Cool J, Alicia Keys and many more.

Ne-Yo: ‘I Wouldn’t Date Another Musician’

R&B star Ne-Yo isn’t sure if he’d like to date someone in the music industry – because there wouldn’t be enough time for them to have a real relationship.
The So Sick hitmaker, real name Shaffer Chimere Smith, insists he is too busy to start dating again – but would make an exception for girl group The Pussycat Dolls, as there’s enough of him to “go around” .
He says, “I don’t know if I could date somebody in the music business who is as busy as me. We wouldn’t have any real relationship as we’d always be on tour.
